Artisanal miners who invaded Dandee 5 mine in Matobo have parcelled out gold claims belonging to a local miner amongst themselves.
The invaders allegedly stormed the mine in a Zanu PF branded vehicle claiming the property now belonged to a senior ruling party official.
“They came and claimed that the mine was theirs.
“After that, a group of people from Harare came to invade the mine including one Denver Lupepe,” said the owner of the mine Ndodana Moyo said.
“They are now using our facilities including the houses, solar, the boreholes and the electricity.
“Lupepe is currently working there and he has since shared it with other guys from Harare.”
Zanu PF Bulawayo chairman Jabulani Sibanda was not reachable for comment while Lupepe professed ignorance about his alleged involvement in the mine grab.
“I do not know any Dandee 5 mines. What I know is Duive mine and that mine belongs to me,” he said.
“ I do not know who owns Dandee, where it is and have never heard of it.” — TheStandard
