ZIMBABWE’S government plans to roll out a US$10 million grant facility to boost gold production from small-scale miners, a move aimed at increasing the country’s mineral reserves.
Minister of Mines and Mining Development Winston Chitando announced the initiative at a recent Zimbabwe Miners Federation (ZMF) conference in Harare.

The conference, themed “Sustainable Mining-A Catalyst Towards National Development”, focused on the role of small-scale miners in Zimbabwe’s economic growth.
Government Support for Small-scale Miners Chitando confirmed that his ministry would soon launch the facility to help small-scale miners operate more sustainably.
ZMF President Henrietta Rushwaya welcomed the announcement, stating that the grant would significantly assist small-scale miners in contributing to the country’s mineral reserves.
