Dorowa Minerals Limited, a subsidiary of Chemplex Corporation is conscious of the negative impacts to the environment that could arise if mining operations are uncontrolled, hence they have made it a point to mitigate the risks and ensure safety at the only phosphate mine in Zimbabwe.
The ISO certified mine has promised to continuously stick to the standard book in order to safeguard any damage to the environment.
“To ensure mitigation of the impacts of its operations to the environment,Dorowa Minerals Limited implements and is certified to the ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System.
“Third part audits are conducted regularly to verify the mine’s continued compliance to the standard, legal and other requirements,” the mine said.
Dorowa Minerals also said they are on a zero tolerance to accidents and fatalities at the mine.
“In order to control its Occupational Health and Safety risks and improve its Occupational Health and safety performance, DorowaMinerals is implementing and is certified to OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management System.
“This entails involvement of all employees in the identification of hazards in their day-to-day activities and management of risks to ensure no incidents occur.
“Third part audits are conducted regularly to provide confidence to the mine’s stakeholders that management and employees are proactive in managing occupational health and safety risks associated with its operations,” further said Dorowa.
