The contribution and effect of Chinese investments in Zimbabwe will be under the spotlight as the local business community meets with its Chinese counterparts in the inaugural China-Zimbabwe Cooperation seminar to be held at Harare International Conference Centre on Monday.
The seminar, first of kind, will be hosted by a local think tank, Ruzivo Media and Resource Centre, in an effort to review the contribution of Chinese investments in Zimbabwe under the second republic.
According to a statement from Ruzivo Media and Resource Centre, the seminar will be an opportunity for government officials, captains of industry and commerce, diplomatic corps, non-governmental organisations, and academia to interact with the Chinese business community.
“The Chinese investment in Zimbabwe seminar is being held under the umbrella of the China-Africa Research and Exchange Programme. As part of the event, there will be a seminar discussion, launch of a special research report, and exhibitions by local and Chinese companies.
“This high-level event will have [the] highest national and diplomatic representation as well as other participants, including key government officials, captains of industry and commerce, diplomatic corps, NGOs, and academia”, reads part of the statement.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Fredrick Shava, will deliver the keynote address.
The Chinese business community has invested heavily in mining, construction, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
