THERE was jubilation in the small mining town of Hwange as Hwange Football Club (FC) roasted Bulawayo based side Chicken Inn ,2-1 in a Castle Lager Premier soccer league match played at the Colliery stadium Sunday.
Going into the match, Chipangano,as Hwange FC are also known, carried the minnows tag and faced a Herculean task to beat favourites Chicken Inn.
After the final whistle, Hwange proved too hot to handle for Chicken Inn as they dismissed the visiting side.
Nixon Gama equalised for the home side in the 63rd minute before Andrew Chuma made it 2-1 four minutes later, to send the Joey Antipas coached team to the cleaners.
Chicken Inn had drawn first blood through an Innocent Mucheneka goal in the 39th minute, before Hwange leveled matters and eventually won the game.
Hwange coach Nation Dube was pleased with the result.
“It was a good show, especially in the last half after a balanced opening period. It’s game on as we go forward and I am confident we can maintain the fine form,” said Dube.
Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said they will dust up themselves and ready for the next assignment.
“ It was a game we struggled to get into the groove, but such is football, we have to dust ourselves and focus on the next assignment. Sadly we also let in soft goals,” he said.
Hwange now sit on 20 points from 14 games.
Chicken Inn remain on second position with 26 points, 2 points behind log leaders, FC Platinum who drew 1-1 with Highlanders.
